Your first tattoo: Checklist for preparation & less pain

Your first tattoo: The ultimate checklist for preparation & pain management

The decision has been made, the design by pmtsketch is finished – now it's time for the appointment. It's perfectly normal to be nervous! To make sure your first tattoo is a perfect experience, I've put together this guide for you.

1. Proper preparation (24 hours in advance)

Getting a tattoo is like a mini marathon for your body. Here's how to prepare:

  • No alcohol or drugs: They thin the blood and make tattooing more difficult.

  • Plenty of sleep: A well-rested body processes pain much better.

  • Food & Drink: Never come on an empty stomach! Pack a sugary snack and water.

2. During the appointment: Pain is all in your head.

Yes, getting a tattoo stings. But it's bearable. My tips:

  • Breathing: Breathe deeply into your abdomen, do not hold your breath.

  • Distraction: Music or a podcast can help take the focus away from the pain.

  • Communication: If you feel dizzy, let us know immediately. We'll take a break.

3. The critical phase: After the injection

The best preparation is useless if aftercare is lacking.

phase What to do
Day 1 Leave the foil on (as instructed) and let the tattoo rest.
From day 2 Apply a thin layer of cream. This is where my tattoo aftercare stick comes in – natural ingredients without chemicals.
Weeks 1-2 No direct sunlight, no chlorinated water, no excessive exercise.

Conclusion

Your first tattoo is a milestone. With the right preparation and professional aftercare, it will be exactly the work of art you envisioned.
