Understanding Tattoo Prices: Why Quality & Project Pricing Make the Difference

Craftsmanship, passion & calculation: A deep look at my pricing structure

"How much does a tattoo cost at your studio?" – That's probably the most frequently asked question in my inbox. And as simple as it sounds, the answer is always individual.

Anyone who knows me knows that I don't have a "menu" like in a restaurant. A tattoo isn't an off-the-shelf product, but a custom-made piece that will last a lifetime. I'd like to explain here transparently why I use project-based pricing and how my prices are determined.

Why project pricing? It allows for planning certainty for both of us.

Instead of dealing with confusing hourly rates, I work with fixed project prices. This has a crucial advantage: transparency.

Once we've discussed your project, I'll give you a price. You'll know exactly what to expect and what you'll get. No worrying about the session running longer than planned, and no stress with a stopwatch ticking away. We'll focus entirely on the result: your perfect tattoo.

Quality is an investment – not a cost factor.

My prices being in the higher segment is a conscious decision. A tattoo is a decision for life. There are no "returns" and no "exchange periods".

  • Specialization: I don't just sell you ink under your skin, but years of experience and a deep specialization in my style.

  • Long-term aesthetics: A tattoo shouldn't just look good on the day it's done, but also in ten or twenty years. This quality can't be achieved by the "tattoo artist next door" who works quickly and cheaply.

  • Annual adjustment: I adjust my prices annually. This reflects not only rising material costs, but above all my growing expertise and the continuous improvement in my work quality.

"A tattoo is forever. Those who try to save money in the wrong place often end up paying twice – through cover-ups or laser treatments."

A reputable business instead of a "shady business"

What many people often forget: Running a professional tattoo studio means far more than just tattooing. I operate a reputable, registered business. Behind every price are significant fees, insurance, rent, and above all, taxes. While "backyard tattoo artists" often operate under the radar of the tax authorities, I invest in a legal, secure infrastructure and the highest quality, certified materials. This provides security not only for me, but most importantly for you as the customer.

Why a simple "price range" doesn't work

I'm often asked for a rough price range. But the reality is: every project is different. Whether a design takes half a day or needs to be set up over several days depends on the complexity, the body part, and the level of detail. Since the variations can be enormous, a general price range would be unprofessional.

The process is therefore always the same:

  1. You submit a request with your idea.

  2. We'll discuss the scope and details.

  3. Based on that, I will create a customized offer for you.

Conclusion: Your body deserves the best

Ultimately, it's about you going home with a work of art that makes you proud. I'll take the time your project needs – without compromise.
